Dilip Kumar and Saira Banu Celebrate Wedding Anniversary
The lovely veteran couple of Bollywood – Kumar and Saira Banu is enjoying a fairly 47th anniversary at their palatial Bandra home in Mumbai. Dilip Kumar, an image of Hindi cinema with a career on both sides of six decades, has played both hero and character roles.
Some of his greatest works are Jwar Bhata, Mela, Naya Daur, Tarana, Devdas, Ganga Jamuna, Leader, Mughal-E-Azam, Shakti, Karma and Saudagar. His last movie was the 1998 film Qila. In 1966, he married Saira Banu, over 20 years his subordinate and his co-star in films like Gopi, Sagina and Bairaag.
She has stood by him during thick and thin. Even as her partner has been in and out of hospital due to his age and ailments, she has proved to be a strong support system for him. Bollywood’s most accepted, respected and exciting couple celebrates their anniversary today. We wish the lovely couple many more years of love filled togetherness.
Last month, Dilip Kumar suffered a heart attack and was admitted to the hospital. He was discharged after 12 days. The Dilip Kumar-Saira Banu love story is what Bollywood films are made of – 47 years of togetherness and getting better with time.
The B-town theatrical married Saira in 1966 and after four years the real life couple came mutually for Gopi (1970) and the two actors appeared in fairly a few movies together thereafter like Sagina (1974) and Bairaag (1976).
