India’s New RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan…… an IIM A Graduate
Raghuram Govinda Rajan, an Indian Economist, was appointed as the 23rd Governor of the Reserve Bank of India on 6th of Aug, 2013 for a term of three years. He took charge over from Dr. D Subbarao, on 4th Sep, 2013. He is the youngest Governor in the history of the Reserve Bank of India.
He worked with the Indian Government includes his helmsmanship of a Planning Commission-appointed committee on financial reforms, and as honorary economic adviser to Prime Minister Mr. Manmohan Singh.
He won the Director’s Gold Medal for best all-round achievement at IIT Delhi and was also a Gold Medalist at IIM Ahmedabad. He received a degree of PhD in Management from the MIT in Year of 1991 for his thesis titled “Essays on Banking”.
He was born on 3rd Feb, 1963 at Bhopal (India). He is married to Radhika Puri, a classmate from IIM. They have two children.
